Research FAQ

How do I justify the investment in a CT system to a funding body or a review panel?
CT projects are often funded through ANR, CPER, ERDF or collaborative project programs. One of CT’s main advantages is its ability to serve several teams, several research topics and sometimes even industrial partners on a single platform. Our teams can also provide the technical information you need to build your application.
Can a single platform serve several research disciplines?
Yes. An RX Solutions CT system can be used for projects in materials science, geosciences, biomaterials, biology or heritage. This versatility increases equipment utilization and makes it easier to share within a lab or research infrastructure.
How do I handle the constant arrival of new PhD students and users?
Passing on skills is a major challenge in academic environments. RX Solutions supports labs with initial and advanced training, user days, dedicated application support and skills-development programs, so you can train new users quickly while preserving the lab’s good practices. Discover our training.
What happens if my needs change in five or ten years?
RX Solutions CT systems are designed as scalable platforms. Depending on your configuration, you can add new detectors, X-ray sources, software options or accessories to follow the evolution of your projects without replacing the whole system. This approach helps secure your investment over the long term. Our Care & Performance team is dedicated to this.
Can I integrate my own experimental devices?
Yes. Labs regularly use in-situ devices to apply temperature, mechanical stress, compression or other loads directly during the scan. The open architecture of RX Solutions CT systems makes it easy to integrate many experimental setups specific to research.
Am I free to use my own image-processing software?
Yes. Data can be exported to software widely used by the scientific community such as Avizo, Dragonfly or ImageJ. RX Solutions doesn’t impose a closed processing workflow and leaves researchers free to build their own analysis workflows.
How does RX Solutions compare with the big established players in the market?
Choosing a CT system doesn’t come down to resolution or a datasheet alone. Labs also weigh the system’s openness, upgrade options, scientific support, support responsiveness and fit with specific projects. RX Solutions is recognized for its expertise dedicated exclusively to CT, its closeness to users and its ability to develop custom solutions suited to advanced research needs.
Can a lab keep its machine for more than 10 years?
Yes. That is precisely the goal of many research institutions. Maintainability, parts availability and scalability are factored in from the design stage of the systems. This approach allows many labs to support several generations of scientific projects on the same platform. RX Solutions is 20 years old and has sold more than 300 systems worldwide.
Who will I talk to if I have a scientific or application question?
You talk directly with specialists in industrial and scientific CT. Support goes beyond machine maintenance: RX Solutions teams regularly assist researchers with parameter selection, complex application issues and the evolution of their platform.
Can repetitive tasks be automated?
Yes. Depending on the configuration you choose, accessories such as the automatic sample loader, the filter changer or advanced automation functions can simplify the daily operation of the machine and improve its use in multi-user environments.
Why invest in a CT platform rather than outsource the analyses?
In-house capability gives you immediate access to the data, greater experimental flexibility and better control over your research schedules.
