The compact 450 kV CT system for inspecting dense parts

 
RX Solutions is expanding its line of high-energy CT systems with the EasyTom L 450, the first compact system to combine a 450 kV meso-focus source (40 µm resolution) and a 150 kV micro-focus source (4 µm resolution).

Designed for tomography of dense parts, particularly metallic ones, or complex assemblies while retaining high-resolution capability for inspecting fine details, the EasyTom L 450 offers laboratories and manufacturers unprecedented flexibility. This CT system brings high energy to laboratories and workshops, in only 2.9 m² of floor space, and is particularly easy to install.

At the heart of the EasyTom L 450 is a 450 kV meso-focus generator, designed to meet the inspection challenges of dense components made of steel, nickel, copper, or titanium or special alloys, or multi-material parts, often used in the aerospace, automotive, additive manufacturing, or foundry sectors.
With spatial resolution down to 40 µm, the EasyTom L 450 reveals the internal structures of high-density parts such as alloy turbine blades, battery modules, or assembled housings.

For parts requiring more detail, the system can be equipped with a second micro-focus generator, mounted on the same axis. Switching from one tube to the other happens instantly with a mouse click. This dual-source capability enables multi-scale inspections in a single system, optimizing both time and image quality.

While most 450 kV tomographs require custom-built bunkers, reinforced foundations, and heavy infrastructure, the EasyTom L 450 was designed with accessibility in mind:

  • Source-detector distance variable by 1430 mm for geometric magnification and optimized resolution.

It is therefore the ideal choice for facilities that want to move to high-energy computed tomography without the logistical and financial burden generally associated with such power.

Expand your inspection capabilities

The EasyTom L 450 is equipped with a large flat-panel detector, and for demanding applications it can be supplemented with a specially optimized linear detector. (see photo)

For ultra-precise inspection, switch from the flat-panel detector to the linear detector with a single click and benefit from sharper images, optimized contrast, and greatly reduced scatter artifacts.

Whether you are validating R&D processes or production batches, analyzing failure modes, or performing quality control, the EasyTom L 450’s acquisition and reconstruction chain is designed for speed.

In parallel, a library of automation tools, from macros to API scripts, gives users control of batch routines, report exports, and connectivity. The built-in OPC-UA industrial communication protocol also allows seamless integration into smart factory environments, or interfacing with robotic loading solutions, for example.

New processing algorithms complement this configuration and deliver unmatched image quality on parts previously considered difficult to image.

The EasyTom L 450 features a vibration-free, granite-based architecture and is supported by X-Act, RX Solutions’ proprietary reconstruction software. The latter delivers robust, high-throughput CT performance with repeatable accuracy, even on the heaviest and most complex samples.
